a tale of bollywood glitz and glamour and the pacific islands

throughout the 10 days of the commonwealth games various activities were held at fed square and alexandra gardens. on wednesday there was supposedly a indian bazaar. so my friend connie and i made our way all the way to alexandra gardens only to find out that we had hit the pacifics! the "indian bazaar" was just a row of food shops...pathetic, i know! anyways, so we watched the sexy males from the pacific islands due their thing with the drums, it was so bloody awesome! they were off course accompanied by sexy pacific island "coconut" women. ;) guys, stop drooling k! after their jaw dropping performence, we were enlightened by the water show on the yarra river. each nation was represented by a fish and they had models of the fish along the yarra river. they were so pretty, all litted up and all. the background music had an african melody to it. i was thinking of "the lion king" he he! anyways, after that connie and i said tht we had had enough and were on our way back home when we heard reggae!! so we boogied to jamaican reggae all night long. it was really really good music i tell you. we felt like as though we were at the carribbeans..after it ended we were high on good music, and my god, i'd felt so content with my day. it was awesome! anyways, then yday my frens and i went to watch sunidi chauhan life in concert. the best part was IT WAS FREE! he he!! if you guys dunno who the hell im talking about, she's the person who sang 'my dil goes hmm' and 'whts going on' from salaam namaste and she sang the song sushmita sen danced to in the movie fiza. sunidi's voice was totally breathtaking. she's the indian version of whitney houston. her voice is amazingly powerful. the best part of the whole day was that shantini, saree, anju and nina joined me! so we were dancing away twd's the end of the concert. indian ppl are real party animals, nothing about them had changed at all...even the whistling! ha ha ha! so we were on another music high again! followed saree and gang back to monash and cracked up there as well. mostly shantz and i. anju and nina were tired and saree was with her msn. he he he! saree got work art done on her face without her knowing. (while she slept), off course urs truly and shantz had something 2 do with it. finally we got tired and went to bed. it was a really really good day! enjoyed it to bits. signing off now! toodles!!

opening of the 2006 commonwealth games

well, i'm sure you guys back at home watched it on tv in malaysia...but i was a whole lot closer!!! woohoo....well, not in the stadium but at federation square off flinders street. there's a really huge screen at fed square and they were screening the opening ceremony there. you guys shouldve seen the crowd. massive...thousand over ppl. its a good thing it was open air and melb is cold at night so you dont actually feel stuffy. the event started at 7.30 aussy time but i only got there at 9.45 reason being i was assigned kitchen duty tht night. *drat!!* by the time i finished one hr of scrubbing plates and cutleries my poor soft and smooth palm was blistered. my freind and i only left college abt 9 and by the time we caught the tram was 9.30 and the bloody tram stopped at lonsdale street which is abt 10 minutes walk from flinders. so yeah, we had to walk. melb city is so beautiful at night. i took pictures to put on my blog but im having some problem with the bloody software so its gonna take some time before you guys can see them. well, then connie and i found somewhere to sit and we enjoyed every minute of it. at the end we saw the fireworks....ah, truly splendid. quite upset though tht we didnt get to see the opening fireworks. i have to say the atmosphere at the square was great that night. so many diff ppl from all over the world were gathered at the square. "united by the moment." connie and i were so touched by delta goodrams song 'we are one' that all the way back, and trust me it was a long way back as we walked all the way from flinders to our college (45 minute walk), we were talking abt world peace. sigh, if only the world was a better place for all of us to live in. the morning after, we found out that the view from yarra river was so much more better, and they got to see the passing of the baton, the fishes and the queens tram. *curses* well, there's still the closing, so no worries there. oh and i found out tht one of my guy friend is gay as he was so making out with his bf at the opening ceremony! hmm...oh well, thts it for the melbourne 2006. before i leave let me just say this, ' malaysia won a gold for weightlifting 56 kg!! woohoo!!!!!!!!!' keep up the good work guys!! one proud malaysian cheering ya'll on in melbourne. yeah!

orang dusun australia

somethings just never fail to get your attention, piss you off and make you shake your head countless number of time. this is the story of a ulufied aussy bitch which caught my attention today by saying something really degrading, to the australian nation that is.

it was high table dinner today. high table dinners are formal sit down dinner where everyone wears their robes and have dinner with the administrators of the college. anyways, dinner was served and everybody was helping themselves with the delicious roast chicken and potato and beans. small conversations were going on and jokes were cracked and so on. i was sitting with my asian friends and we were joined by this really nice australian guy and these two austalian girls. we were all having a fairly decent conversations with each other. after some time, while i was talking to my malaysian pal james, one of the aussy chick asked me "hey priya where are you from again?", i told her that i am from malaysia and she proceeded to ask me " are you unusually dark for a malaysian?" you tell me how the fuck am i suppose to respond to that idiotic nonsensical question? i just abruptly said no and returned to my more civilized conversation with my fellow MALAYSIAN friend james. off course i had my friend judy from india trying to explain that my colour was because i am of sri lankan origin. seriously, i can't believe that they were having a conversation about my colour! i mean does colour even matter? this just shows you that some so called "civilised" nations aren't civilised at all. i mean the fucking american president did a good job portraying tht didnt he? sometimes people are so absorbed in their own lives they fail to realize global issues or even explore other cultures. (things to note melbourne is supposedly a multi racial city) australian newspapers are full with national news and literally no international news ok. even the ones that are there are so irrelevent. why talk about australians when some asians don't even know the difference between an indian and a malay. james was telling me that this singaporean chinese kept calling this indian boy who's name was skantha (but ppl call him skan) iskan. then james asked him why the hell was he calling skan tht and the boy replied oh isnt skan short for iskandar? isnt he malay? and ppl, skan looks indian from the tiniest hair on his head till his pinky toe. james told him no he's indian and the boy reply indian malay arent they the same. people here think just because we indian, chinese and malay ppl are malysians therefore we are malays. oh btw, another thing to add is, the indian community outside malaysian are highly specific where they are from ok. no joke. if you say you're indian, tht means you're from india or from indian descent. if you're sri lankan you're from sri lanka. so off course i was CORRECTED every half second. its madness k. anyways, i think i've vented enough. there everythings out and i feel much better.

feel free to think wht you want and leave your comments. thats it for now. definately will here from me soon. cheers!!

the WET experience?

ha ha ha...no i didnt get wet literally neither did i get 'wet'....instead last night the gang of international students at my college, including me *duh!!* hit this club called watermark. more than the experience the scene was truly magnificent. the club was located right at the side of victoria harbour. B.E.A.Utiful place....once again, another romantic spot *sobs..no prakash* so now abt the club, well i was happy because it was a real club club and not a freaking pub come club. the senior who took us there was a VIP so we got one free bottle of champagne and we didnt hv to que up in the cold. ;) and for the first time in my life i actually had a tequila shot. as jenna said, "aiseh, we all still sitting at asia cafe having sugarcane and maami here having tequila!" lolz...anyways, i dindt know tht there was a method to drink tequila. 1st u gotta put salt on ur fist then lick it. 2nd drink the shot and 3rd bite the lime in ur mouth. he he he...pretty awesome. DUN ROLL OF UR CHAIR LAUGHING K!! first timer here, permit to be a bit enthusiastic about it. anyways, then they started la the awesome music...dragged my aussie fren leanne to the floor, yeah she was the only local among the internationals...isnt she awesome!! initially she was suppose to come back with me during my trip to msia in june but her parents said that it was too expensive and she gotta earn the money. so maybe next yr la. anyways so then all of us were shaking our sexy booties to the groovy music. gotta admit that the remix's were awesome but the choice of songs can improve. my favourite though was gold digger and run it. "get down girl go ahead get down" *sniggers* sigh... i had so much fun with ppl i barely know just imagine hitting the clubs with my friends back at home. this morning, i was terribly homesick. only got home at 4 and i had to get up at 8.30 for kitchen duty and then went back to sleep. then got up for lunch and slept again, in the evening got up in time for dinner and then felt guilty so i did some work la. stupid cough is not going away!! almost 1 month now. ARGH!! anyways, gtg get my beauty sleep now. tmr's predicted to be a mad day. ttfn!

my tiramisu....oooh

its 10.20pm here down under and im eating this most delicious tiramisu cake ever. well, it'll be significant to point out the fact that it's my first ever time eating a tiramisu cake. deprived?...yes indeed...until now that is. "as it moves down my throat i feel the deepest satisfaction in life followed by a slight tingle down my spine...aaah my tiramisu, with a layer of coco powder on top of a thick layer of cream, you fulfilled my desires tonight!"

p.s: *in a very dramatic soap opera manner* " sorry prakash nothing much you can do to fulfil my desires tonight!! it's just me.... and my tiramisu." *prances off to savour more tiramisu*

i survived melbourne transportation system!!

yey! finally something interesting to blog about. anyways, on friday after uni i met my uncle raj at melbourne central and took the train to his house. it was a very short visit. but i was so emo when i entered my aunts hse, because the last time i was there my mum was there to greet me. so i just started crying. anyways, my aunt gave me a big hug and i felt much better. i was so happy to have chicken curry that night. it was so yummy! so i ate like a pig and ended up feeling like a stuffed turkey after tht. then i went online and chatted with my babu and my sis. it was so good just chatting with them. then abt 11 i went to bed. cried again coz mum was sleeping with me on tht bed last week. it's so funny that when i was with her for the last 18 yrs i never really made an effort to spend time with her and all, but right now i'll do anything just to have a minute with her. anyways, then next afternoon saree came picked me up and we went to monash. was staying over there. met up with shantini and her friend anju. had a blast that day. in the evening we cooked. how awesome was tht? we made chicken curry and stir fry mixed vege. and to our supprise it was pretty good. so we whacked it nicely. then saree and shantz heated up the chocolate cake until the icing melted and was spilling over the cake...it was so good...ah, we seriously sinned that night. and the best part is we ate the wonderful cake in the park nearby under the moonlit and starlit sky. so bloody romantic. so, after cracking stupid jokes and laughing our ass's off we headed back to anju's room, cleaned up and saree and i went to get our pillows and shantz went to get hers. met back at anju's room in 30 min and we set the bed and stuff and just laid down. shantz suggested nail painting so we took out anju's collection and started being creative. shantz did my nails for me, i was being a bum lying down on my tummy and not doing anything. he he he! but we had fun doing gurly stuff. then anju and shantz hit the sack and only saree and i were awake. i felt like an idiot when saree felt asleep soon after and i only realised after 3 minutes of yapping...he he he! oh well...so after tht i slept off too. next morning a took the bus to the local train station at 10.50 then immediately jumped onto the train to the city. so shit scared coz i was all on my own. got down at flinders st station. took the number 19 bus to college, and wallah, i was back "home!!" ;) so tht's my weekend in words. pretty good huh? oh well, ya'll tc and definately will receive updates from urs truly.
